The High Court, Dar es Salaam Zone, has granted an application by CHADEMA Chairman, Tundu Lissu, for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Tanzania, Camilius Wambura, the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Ramadhan Kingai, and the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Jacob John Mkunda, to be summoned to give testimony in the treason case facing him.

The court said the witnesses have a connection and relevance to the case, and therefore they have been granted the opportunity to be called by the defence side.

 

However, the court rejected Lissu’s request to have President Samia Suluhu Hassan, former Vice President Philip Mpango, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa and Director of National Security Suleiman Mombo summoned to give testimony in the case.

 

The decision was delivered by Judge Dastun Ndunguru, assisted by Judges James Karehemaya and Ferdinand Kiwonde, after the court heard arguments from the prosecution and defence sides regarding the witnesses mentioned by Lissu after the court ruled that he has a case to answer.
