Tanzanian lawyer Peter Madeleka has announced that he is stepping away from ACT Wazalendo party politics, saying he wants to dedicate more time to the push for justice and national welfare.

Madeleka made the announcement on Sunday, July 26, 2026, through a post shared on his social media pages

“Today, July 26, 2026, I, Peter Madeleka, officially announce that I am leaving ACT Wazalendo politics. I am doing this so that I can have enough time to join all lovers of justice in fighting for the rights and welfare of our country,” he said.

“A just Tanzania is possible if everyone fulfils their responsibility,” he added.

Until his announcement, Madeleka had been serving as ACT Wazalendo’s Shadow Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, a role that placed him at the centre of the party’s legal and constitutional reform agenda.

In the October 2025 General Election, he contested for the Kivule parliamentary seat in Dar es Salaam on an ACT Wazalendo ticket.

Madeleka joined ACT Wazalendo after leaving CHADEMA, where he had been a longtime member and supporter.
