Masten Millimo Wanjala – Self-confessed serial killer

Masten Millimo Wanjala, a self-confessed serial killer suspected of being behind the murder of more than 10 minors in Kenya, has escaped from police custody. Police sources say Wanjala was being held at Jogoo Road Police Station located in the country’s capital Nairobi, when he escaped.

Last month detectives confirmed that Wanjala had killed four minors in Bungoma County, bringing to 13 the number of his victims. The 20-year-old led detectives to two murder scenes in Machakos County, five in Nairobi County, and two in Kajiado County. He was said to have lured his victims under the guise of being a football coach.

With no body found, detectives collected samples of what struck as human remains to be taken through DNA identification. Area residents in his supposed home town expressed shock, some counting themselves fortunate, as they sometimes saw Wanjala spending time with their children.

Among Wanjala’s victims is a 9-year-old he reportedly strangled in February 2019. He was scheduled to face 13 counts of murder; it remains unclear how the suspect managed to slip from custody.
