Days after Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni banned his son Muhoozi Kainerugaba from commenting on state affairs via Twitter, Muhoozi has now come out to declared that no one can stop him.

“He will leave Twitter. Twitter is not the problem, the problem is what you write. Talking about other countries and Uganda’s preferential politics is something he shouldn’t do and won’t,” President Museveni said during an interview over the weekend with a leading Kenyan broadcast station.

On Tuesday, October 18, 2022 General Muhoozi reiterated and said he was an adult and there was no one to ban him for anything.

“I hear some journalist from Kenya asked my father to ban me from Twitter? Is that some kind of joke?? I am an adult and NO ONE will ban me from anything!” the General published on his Twitter account.

Muhoozi has been sparking debate on social media about the controversial messages that he posts on his Twitter account.

President Museveni had to apologize to Kenya in October, after Kainerugaba, among other remarks, suggested taking his troops to capture Nairobi.

He also criticized former Kenyan leader Uhuru Kenyatta for not trying to file a third unconstitutional petition in the August election, in what was seen as a slight against newly elected president William Ruto.

Muhoozi also last week apologized for his remarks to President Ruto, whose swearing-in ceremony was attended by Museveni.

Museveni however defended his son as a “very good general”, after promoting him despite removing him from his role as the leader of the Ugandan Ground Forces.

Although Kainerugaba has repeatedly denied claims that he intends to succeed his 78-year-old father, some of his writings suggest otherwise.

On October 15, Kainerugaba once again took to Twitter to tell the opposition that after his father, he would defeat them in the election because Ugandans love him more than the opposition likes.

“To the Ugandan opposition, after my father, I will defeat you badly in any election. Ugandans love me more than they’ll ever love you,” he said.
