The Energy and Water Services Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has stated that the retail prices of petrol and diesel oil imported through Dar es Salaam port have decreased by Sh 137 per liter and 118 per liter, respectively, compared to the prices that were published on 7th June 2023.

For the northern regions (Tanga, Kilimanjaro, Arusha and Manyara), the retail price of petrol has dropped by Sh188 per liter to Sh2,724 while diesel has dropped by Sh58 per liter to Sh2,760.

Furthermore, the price of kerosene shall remain the same as the price that was published on 7th June 2023 as there was no consignment received in June 2023.

“No shipment of oil products was received through Mtwara Port for June 2023. Therefore, the retail price of diesel for the month of July 2023 will continue to be the one announced in the edition of June 7, 2023,” said the statement.
However, EWURA has given a warning about the price in the southern regions in case traders have to take oil from the port of Dar es Salaam, the limit price of that region should be taken into account.

In addition, EWURA has warned oil traders to observe the price limit, and for those who will go against that, legal measures will be taken.

“Oil companies are free to sell petroleum products at a competitive price as long as the prices do not exceed the price cap or fall below the floor price as calculated in accordance with the Ewura Rules for Setting Oil Prices of the year 2022,” said the statement.
